Duties:
1. Investigates suspected or alleged violations or complaints regarding Workers’ Compensation coverage for employees to determine if violation has occurred, seeks criminal complaints and if necessary ensures closing of business by issuing stop work orders.
2. Investigates insurer performance regarding payments of Workers’ Compensation claims by reviewing computer printouts, written and verbal complaints from employees, and other related data in order to determine if a violation has occurred, and to take appropriate action, including recommending fines.
3. Prepares reports and evidence concerning investigations to provide required information, assist legal staff in preparing cases and making appropriate recommendation concerning investigations.
4. Testifies at hearings to present information or evidence regarding violations of Workers’ Compensation laws by employers or insurers.
5. Informs uninsured employees of rights under Worker’s Compensation laws and refers to appropriate
resources for information and guidance.
6. Investigates claimants for possible fraud by conferring with other agencies, employers, etc., and refers cases to Attorney General for prosecution.
7. Performs related duties such as investigating accident sites, acting as keeper of records, and compiling documents for third party settlements.
Qualifications:
Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory or law enforcement work. Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator's license. Preferred Qualifications:
Applicant must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills focused on conducting investigations, have aggressive listening skills for sensitive issues with the ability to work to acquire informations through questioning. He or she must be sensitive to the legal process and have the ability to write reports in a timely and cogent manner. General knowledge of investigative techniques and the ability to understand, apply, and explain laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guideline governing assigned unit activities.
Preferred qualifications include a High School Diploma. A BS/BA with a concentration in Law Enforcement preferred or the applicant should have at least three years of full, or equivalent part time, experience in Investigations or law enforcement work. The applicant must possess a current and valid Massachusetts class 3 motor vehicle drivers license. The ability to converse in both English and a second language e.g. Spanish, Chinese, Cambodian, etc. is a plus.

They did interviews on 05/09 and 05/12. No idea on how many applied or were interviewed. A co-worker put in, was called to schedule interview on the above dates, but chose not to continue process. Low pay to start (39k-low 40's) but good 'ole State bennies. Same with AG's office for civil investigator positions.

No.. Still in it... Not at all a paper pusher job. I heard Interviews were over, I was just trying to gauge where they were in the process.
