LEOMINSTER -- Police are charging two teen brothers with attempted murder in the stabbing of an 18-year-old man Wednesday night, according to Leominster Police Lt. Robert Healey.
Police charged a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, assault with intent to murder and attempted murder, Healey said Thursday.
Their names aren't being released because they're both juveniles.
Police brought the teens to the police station and charged them with the crimes Thursday morning, Healey said.
"Our investigation took us all over the city," Healey said. "We had to hunt them down."
Police arrested a third man during the investigation on charges of distributing cocaine, according to court records.
Police started the investigation Wednesday night when staff at HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster reported an 18-year-old with stab wounds, according Healey.
The teen told police the brothers stabbed him during a fight at their 155 Mechanic St., home, according to Healey.
"We didn't find the knife, but the victim said he was stabbed with a knife," Healey said.
Trouble started around 11 p.m. at the Mechanic Street house when the 18-year-old got into a verbal argument with the brothers, Healey said. The brothers are not related to the victim, Healey said.
"They know each other, but they are not friends," Healey said. The argument soon turned physical and the victim was stabbed during the altercation, according to Healey.

Friends of the victim took him to the hospital, where he was treated, according to Healey. The victim remains at the hospital in stable condition, hospital officials said Thursday afternoon.
Police found the brothers Thursday morning and brought them to the police station, where they were questioned and then charged, according to Healey.
It is not clear if the brothers and the victim are all Leominster High School students, Healey said. Leominster School Superintendent Nadine Binkley said Thursday afternoon she was aware of the investigation, but said it did not involve the school.
Police began the search for the suspects immediately, according to Healey, though the brothers left the Mechanic Street home after the stabbing.
Sgt. Matthew Swaine went by the Mechanic Street building around 2:30 a.m. Thursday to check for the suspects and saw Tyler Sanders, 21, of 31 C Elm Road, Devens, sitting on the wall in front of the house, according to court records.
Swaine went to speak with Sanders, and Sanders stood up to leave when he dropped a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance containing what is believed to be cocaine, according to court documents.
Police also seized a cell phone and about $170 in cash from Sanders, according to Swaine's affidavit filed in Leominster District Court.
Sanders is charged with possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute, according to court records.
Sanders was arraigned Thursday and being held on $2,500 cash bail with a Leominster District Court date of April 16, according to court records. Police sent the brothers to a juvenile detention center in Worcester Thursday night. They are due in juvenile court in Leominster this morning, according to Healey.
