A Springfield man has been sentenced to five consecutive life terms in prison for robbing and fatally shooting two city men in 2006.
A Hampden Superior Court judge sentenced 26-year-old Thomas Caldwell Jr. after a jury convicted him yesterday of two counts of first-degree murder.
He was charged with robbing and killing 31-year-old Kevin Thompson and 26-year-old Nathan Lewis in an apartment they were renovating with two co-workers.
Their family members say they were involved in many community activities and worked with city youths, in addition to working as home renovation contractors.
