Large Narcotics Arrest by Springfield Police Department

SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) On Wednesday, March 26th a team of detectives from the Springfield Police Department along with the Hampden County Narcotic Task Force made an arrest in front of 367 Hancock Street. 50-year-old Jose Martinez of 26 Burford Avenue in West Springfield was arrested for the following:
• Trafficking in heroin 100-200 grams
• Trafficking in cocaine over 200 grams
• Two counts of trafficking in cocaine 28-200 grams
• Trafficking in cocaine 100-200 grams (on 3/19)
Martinez is known as a distributor in the Springfield area for both cocaine and heroin. Police say his arrest will put a dent in this type of illegal activity.
After his arrest on Wednesday, police went to his apartment in West Springfield. During his on street arrest and at his apartment, police found 1,200 grams of pure cocaine, 173 grams of heroin, over $16,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.
