Westport —
Police are investigating several suspicious credit/debit charges at the Route 177 Mobil Gas Station.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Majewski said investigators are asking that anyone who has noticed suspicious credit or debit charges on their statements after visiting the station to contact the detective division.
He said police have been investigating possible fraudulent use of credit card transaction(s) the past few weeks.
The station’s management has isolated a specific period that the transactions occurred between October 2007 and February 2008.
“A suspected past employee, who no longer works for the company, is believed to be involved,” Majewski said.
The management has been working with police to identify victims involved in the thefts, he added.
Anyone who thinks they may have been victimized should obtain their account information from their bank and contact police at 508-636-1122.
