LOL that just might work.....

Posted by: bpd145

Quincy by far has the best contract... I was amazed to see some of their pay scales. Law enforcement Pulizer to the authors! Although... check you contracts as soon as possible, a major Verizon strike is coming.

Posted by: mpc111

I heard Holden PD was good to work for. Very pro-active, and good pay incentives in their contract. -Stay safe

P.S. Gunny, if you really are in the drill field, you would KNOW MCRD Parris Island is spelled with two r's, not one. Nice try. Errrrrr.

Posted by: topcop

I hear P-Town is the best to work for

Try not to laugh, but.........................................
I just went through Sexual Assault Invest course at Plymouth Academy last month and there was an officer from P-Town. She says they CANNOT get good people to work there because most people don't want to live in the area. Good department though.

Posted by: Macop

Being a former P-town summer Officer, I have to say I would jump at the chance to work there fulltime. Whe I was there they pay was in the mid to high 30s

Posted by: 1zero7

macop,
you just liked the area

Posted by: j809

These are good departments

1. Harvard and Littleton
2. Leominster
3. Concord

Posted by: MCOA41

I am not sure if I am suprised or not suprised that none of Western Massachusetts Departments listed.

Posted by: j809

Hey, I know this is not a town but one of my good friends works for Boston & Maine Railroad Police. He loves and the department is squared away. They are getting eight new cruisers to update their fleet too. i heard they're going to look exactly like the new MSP CVs unmarked, with GPS and all.

Hey JB,
Whats the requirements for Boston & Maine Railroad Police sound good!!!

Posted by: Mikey682

JB, I'd PM this question to you but I think theres others that might be wondering what the job description of those positions are, such as travel requirements and things like that. Thanks!

Posted by: mpd61

Hey Yimmy!
You let the cat out of the bag now! Everybodys gonna be calling Iron Horse Park giving D a headache!

Posted by: j809

Sorry guys, but the B&M has no openings and they dont anticipate any for a few years. Also they only hire people with FT academy and experience. And you can be stationed anywhere in the five states they cover.

Posted by: Mikey682

Thanks

Like someone said before..
Framingham is great top to bottom. Great training. Great brass. Great equipment. Great people.

Natick - Great equipment, some good people. Chief is tough but genuinly a nice guy... but they're all at eachothers throats - back stabbers and complainers. Not too bad though, can be quite busy.

Harvard (Town of) was/is a great department, but Chief Chase left and just took the helm at Westwood PD.... hint: he's a former Framingham guy.

I've heard Concord is a great department all around... but I have to wonder, they seem to be hiring a few newbies each year... why so much turn over for a small to mid size dept?

mpc11 - I heard the same, Holden is good to work for - nice pay.

Quincy by far has the best contract with pay and benefits. Right now NEwton is one of the worst. Very disorganized and poorly run

My understanding is the City of Quincy is concerned with how to pay the "best contract" with the current financial woes. Any info on this?

Are they planning to hire any this year?

Posted by: Thimios315

Iron Horse Park....that's out of Billerica isn't it ?

I inquired once for a job there.....aren't they Guilford Rail, though ? I've

seen those guys around...I think they mentioned that they accept various

academies....not sure, and I don't want to start throwing erroneous info

out there. If anyone can fill me in,please do so, I'd appreciate it.

Posted by: Macop

As far as Newton being poorly run and all that where do you get your info from? I have a freind who works there and loves it and fells its a great place to work. Thimios r u refereing Boston/Maine railroad Police, they r in Iron horse park. They park thier cruisers in our staion parking lot and I have af/t Rail Road officer on my staff as a p/timer. I got into lenthy converstion about that one time. I foget the deatils but there are Federal Police Officers and they have full authority in ME, NH, VT,NY and partial in MA which is not suprising that way this screwd up state is. They curerntly send thier Officer to the S.S.P.O the frist one they sent one to was S.S.P.O #9. But according to thier contract they r suppose to go M.C.J.T.C

Posted by: bpd145

Thimios..

Ironhorse Park is in Billerica; right off High Street. If you want to film a horror movie, the place is perfect for the set. It is the land that time
forgot.

Also, you are correct that Guilford owns the railway, but I think that they still wear the Boston & Maine patch with the Guilford symbol in the middle.

Next time I see one of their guys poking around Woburn Street, I'll find out. Their cars stick out pretty easily... they are the only Crown Vics I see at 3AM with blue lights and Maine plates.

Posted by: Thimios315

Cool. That place is wierd back there. I was on a ride along one night with

a Billerca P.O. when I interned there; that place was messed up. All those

old rail cars and stuff. It looked like one of the F.A.T.S. machine training

scenarios I've done, LOL.

Posted by: cop491

MACOP I work for NEwton belive it is terrible No trainning, no cruisers the ones we do have are falling apart We carry 9mm that are 13 yrs old that are constantly failing during qualifying. That is just the begining.

The only saving grace about Newton is that the patrolman union is strong

Posted by: Macop

My buddie told me u guys got a bucnh of real nice cars with all kinds of strobes and all. One of my roomates who if from Newton said he went to visit his parents and all he talked about was your phat new crusiers? Am I missing something.

Posted by: TrueBlue1997

Quincy does have any money troubles at all, in fact they just appointed 19 new officers on the 22nd of Aug. Local paper says they are putting 6 to 10 more on in the Spring.

Posted by: mikemac64

If the Newton union is so strong, why are you driving crappy cars and shooting crappy guns? These are safety issues which your "strong" union should be addressing!!!

Posted by: richie1978

i WORKED INPTOWN FOR TWO SUMMERS AND ITS A VERY BUSY PLACE, YOU WILL LEARN ALOT WORKING THERE, GOOD GROUP OF GUYS IN PTOWN

Posted by: cop491

MIKEMAC The Union is and has been adressing those issues. The Union has gone numerous times to the papers and city to protest. Our actions are a major reason we got the new cruisers and design- including lights.

The Union action was also a major reason we are getting new guns - which are way over due- this October.

It was the Union not the leadership of the Newton Police that got these changes.

491,

How's Chief Cordeiro and the new grid system doing?

Posted by: cop491

The grid system works well. Having Cop roam vast remore areas aimlessly. great use of resources. Lets forget about OUI's which pose a much greater threat than some knucklehead stealing change out of cars left unlocked by nitwit owners.

In Newton if you bring in arrest after arrest your not doing your job unless you find the carbreaker.

Posted by: j809

Sounds like a crappy place to work. Whatever happened with Newton PD Chief refusing to hire layed off guys, was that resolved.

Posted by: krazzz13

You might want to think about burning bridges......never know who reads this stuff............

Posted by: capepd

Hey..I work for Yarmouth (previously for Orleans) and it's nice to see the praise. Thanks all!

Anyone try a Worst Town to Work For list!! :P

Posted by: DODK911

Is theany Bellingham Police Officers out there that can tell me how Bellingham is to work for, or any one else that knows anything about the Department let me know.

Posted by: capepd

I went to the Academy with 2 people from Bellingham and they both seemed to think it was a great Department.

Posted by: RPD931

Anyone know of any good Western Mass town to work for??

I work for a small department in Western Mass; Huntington. The town supports us well, and our chief is proactive. Being that we're small town though, it just doesn't compare to full time departments.

I tried to get hired in Warren a few years ago before getting hired by Huntington. Chief said that since he had hired people from my hometown of Chicopee before for part time positions and those people had trouble getting to work during snow storms, he didn't want to take a chance again with me. The chief seemed nice, but concerned that he wouldn't be able to cover shifts. What can I do? I am about the same distance away where I work now and have to go over the mountain range, and haven't missed work. I don't know of any smaller towns hiring now but if I do, I'll try and remember to post it.

Posted by: geebo21

I'm not sure on the best, but I can tell you by far who has the worst: Belmont. They treat their employees like shit!! The administration sucks!!
