BRAINTREE —
A Weymouth woman allegedly attacked a police officer who was putting her in a cell following a drunken-driving arrest.
Angela M. Morgan, 28, was arrested early Saturday morning after she stopped at a green light at the intersection of Plain Street and John Mahar Highway.
Morgan allegedly told an officer that she was returning home to Weymouth, although she was headed in the opposite direction, police said.
The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the car and and suspected that the driver was drunk.
Morgan did poorly when asked to perform several sobriety tests.
She was arrested on charges of drunken driving and having no registration in her possession.
While at the police station, Morgan was uncooperative and waved her fists at officers and scratched the hand of one, causing a cut, police said.
As a result, Morgan also also was charged with assault and battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct.
