BRIDGEWATER —
As part of an undercover WEB Task Force investigation, police say they have arrested two people who allegedly utilized the popular Web site, Craigslist, to advertise sexual services at a Bridgewater location.
According to a press release issued by East Bridgewater Detective Sgt. Scott Allen on March 20, Lynne M. Libby, 47, of 28 Holly St., New Bedford, was arrested and charged by WEB investigators at the Bridgewater Police Department with agreeing to engage in sexual conduct for a fee.
Also arrested was David J. Anderson, 54, of 2 Standish Drive, Bridgewater, who was charged with deriving support from prostitution and knowingly permitting premises to be used for prostitution.
According to Allen, for the past three weeks East Bridgewater Detective Michael Jenkins has been conducting an on-line investigation of a female who was advertising “services” on Craigslist.com in the Bridgewater area.
On Thursday investigators initiated surveillance of the Standish Drive residence.
Jenkins, who was undercover, arranged to meet Libby for a “true girlfriend experience” for $180.
The surveillance led to the arrest of Libby and Anderson.
Police said Anderson has been assisting “Libby in her illegal acts within his residence for a year or more.”
In addition to Jenkins, officials involved in the investigation included West Bridgewater Detective Sgt. Victor Flaherty, Bridgewater Lt. Christopher Delmonte, East Bridgewater Detective Paul O’Brien, West Bridgewater Detective Timothy Nixon, and Bridgewater officers Robert Bailey and Lisa Mitton.
According to Allen, “this is the second Craigslist investigation initiated by the WEB Task Force within the past year, targeting prostitution involving both alleged prostitutes and johns from within the Bridgewaters.”
The WEB Task Force is a collaborative effort on behalf of all three Bridgewater to address crime in the area.
