Governor sends sympathies to family of fallen N.H. medic
CONCORD, N.H. -- Gov. John Lynch is calling a New Hampshire National Guard medic killed in Iraq a "hero who sacrificed protecting all of us." Lynch sent the states' deepest sympathies to the family of 27-year-old Specialist David Stelmat of Littleton who died Saturday with two other soliders when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee. Stelmat was a medic with the 237th Military Police Company of the New Hampshire Army National Guard. Stelmat was attached to the 1132nd Military Police. He served as an Army infantryman in Afghanistan before trading in his gun for a medic's kit with the Guard. His father said his son's purpose in life was to help people.
