BOYTON BEACH — A Palm Beach Gardens firefighter impersonating a police officer took his act to a whole other level Thursday night, driving 100 miles per hour to pull over a speeding vehicle on Interstate 95 and activating an elaborate siren system in his Toyota pickup before a real cop busted him, Boynton Beach police said today.
The faux cop, Terry Scott Petruzzi, 39, gave chase to a speeding Nissan pickup truck before the Boynton Beach police officer pulled both trucks over shortly before 7 p.m., police said.
A look inside Petruzzi's truck revealed sirens, a police radio scanner and a dashboard-mounted video recording system. He carried a fully loaded 9 millimeter handgun with one bullet in the chamber.
He also carried extra ammunition, handcuffs and a badge that read "Private Investigator," police said.
The Nissan's driver, Matthew Paul Loguidice, 24, admitted to speeding and was given a ticket by the real officer.
Petruzzi declined to comment when reached by phone this morning.
He was earlier booked into Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of impersonating an officer.

Why do people never seem to impersonate firefighters?

Because holding a hose and spraying is something most men do naturally.

Firefighters do it to make up for one thing or another.

I saw on real stories of the highway patrol once a guy get stopped by a holden C troop trooper, who had a wacker mobile and was dressed up in an EMT uniform, and had an expired EMT license. Apparently this guy was jumping EMS calls and doing his own first responding. That must have been fun...

"He carried a fully loaded 9 millimeter handgun with one bullet in the chamber."

Good thing he didn't have two bullets in the chamber!

Who needs to impersonate a F/F. Just join a call / volunteer FD, order and install every LED light option in Galls, then when you flip the magic (instant woody) switch on a clear night, the space station can track your response to the chimney fire.

How hard would it be? Just jump into the convoy when dispatch calls the volunteers out, and they'll take you into the fold.

You would think more people would since "Everyone Loves Firefighters"

The people we deal with usual hate us, spit at us, verbally abuse us and are often reluctant to call us even when they really need us.

last year sometime there was a guy running aroung impersonating a firefighter. to the extend that he bought 2 sets of gear (black and tan) with a scott pack and would go to fires and would go into the fire lmao he signed up for like 20 MFA classes and went to like 2 before people started to catch on, both in mass and NH! i think there is still a poster around here somewhere. haha

Name is Bill Golden, complete jack ass, used to work for me when i did traffic surveys for the state back in the mid 90's. Actually one of the members on MassCops was that trainee. SOB stole my license, memorized my info and used it when he got pulled over, seems he was revoked for habitual offender so he would just use peoples info that he knew. He's prolly one of the trolls on here.

We actually just had a neighboring town stop a kid that had our patch on his jacket. He said he found it so he put it on and was wearing it around. Good thing we didnt get the little SOB.
