Hello,

Just curious if this has happended to anybody else out there. I have a 2005 crown vic assigned to me and three times now since Dec. 2007 the rear window has shattered out while just sitting there. Nobody seems to have an answer to as why it keeps happening. Any thoughts? Thanks

The only times we've had windows break are when someone booted them out (solved with bars over the rear door windows) or threw something through them.

It's the little kid who waves from the third floor window across from the donut shop with his B-B gun.

I honestly think I saw a bulletin from some southern agency about rear windows shattering.

Where's the radio antennae attached? I think that had something to do with it.

I do think it was the '05's.

It's probably due to the 1000W antenna on the rear deck along with four radar antennas and plate recognition system, XM, CB, Scanner and four other 2-way radios on there.

Thanks, you dont happen to have a link for that, do you? There are four antennas mounted on the trunk lid, along with a rear radar head and interior led light bar around the brake on the interior deck lid. Several of our other cruisers are set up in the same way and it hasnt happened in them. Two the times it happened the cruiser was shut off

It was a teletype bulletin that came over LEAPS quite a while ago. It did have to do with a trunk mounted antenna - but if the other cruisers aren't having a problem with the same set up,,,, I'm not technical at all and couldn't guess if maybe there's some sort of wattage or electrical something or other doing it. My experience with cruiser radios is limited to telling someone to get their ass off the mike.

The fact that it has happened while the crusiers' shut down.....
