CRIME ANALYST
The Salary:
$33,134.40 - $44,532.80 annually, plus liberal fringe benefits

The Position:
This is responsible work in receiving, analyzing and assessing information of a criminal nature and disseminating information in the form of operational output.

An employee in this class requests and receives raw police data and other information, and analyzes, collates and disseminates information with general supervision. Duties include collating information pertaining to criminal activity and preparing assessments of police data, and detecting patterns, structures, trends and movements of the criminal.

Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed for conformance with prescribed policies and procedures of the Police Department.

NOTE: The duties of this position will include all of those duties set forth in the official job description.

The Requirements:
Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in police science, criminology or a closely related field.
Have at least one (1) year experience in the collection, analysis and interpretation of police data and have some experience in the use and operation of computers. Additional qualifying work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
NOTE: Candidates must complete attached supplemental application, as well as the standard employment application.

Candidates must successfully complete a background investigation which includes a polygraph examination.

The Examination:
The examination for this position will be as follows: Evaluation of Training and Experience as presented in your application and resume. Applicants who successfully pass the Training and Experience portion will be scheduled for an oral panel interview, which will include an analysis exercise. Applicants must attain a minimum score of 70 in each part of the examination in order to qualify. All successful applicants will be required to pass a medical examination, including drug screening, prior to appointment.
