THE SUN reports today that a mob in Manchester, England has taken things into their own hands and jumped upon a trio of robbers in that town.
BRAVE shoppers took on armed robbers after 49 robberies in their town in just three months.
Fifty furious locals pounced when three men ran from a bank with machetes and cash bags.
First shoppers booed, jeered and whistled as the mob ran down the street. And some jostled the robbers as they jumped into their getaway car.
Then two council workers and a shopkeeper tried to block the maroon Renault Megane, causing the gang to plough into a parked vehicle.
They then had to make an impromptu dash to waiting motorbikes left nearby to make their escape.
Police set up Operation Swift after the 49 robberies in Middleton, Greater Manchester.
But it was the public who forced the robbers to flee in terror after holding up the Nationwide Building Society.
A witness said: “About 50 people were walking past and their faces went red with rage. People are sick of thugs thinking they’ll get away with it. The shoppers put the wind up them. Maybe they’ll think twice before coming back.
A 61-year-old cashier suffered a broken nose in Friday’s raid after a robber smashed a plastic screen with a brick. The gang fled with several £1,000 bags of cash.
