Anyone using and EO Tech or similar holographic sight on their M4 or AR-15? I'm purchasing a Busmaster A3 M4 soon for duty use and have been considering purchasing one of these sights. Just looking for some feedback, thanks.

I currently have an Aimpoint Comp ML 3 (i think) on my personal M-4 at home. But I have the Trijicon ACOG over here and it is AWESOME. The Aimpoint is great, but as soon as I get home I am buying the ACOG. Well worth the money.

I will also look into the Trijicon ACOG.. thanks.

Concur that the ACOG is an awesome sight. I plan to purchase one in the near future.

My CQB rifle has an EOTech 552 sight, and its perfect for close-in work. The reticle is bright and clear, even in bright sunglight, has zero parallex, and is very rugged. I think the EOTech reticle makes it a bit faster to shoot with than either the aimpoint or ACOG. Its perfect for shooting from very short distances out to 200 yards or so. I also utilize a GGG quick-detach mount.

Off-subject question :

Q-5, is your ACOG X3 or X4 magnification and is the reticle a "donut" or a chevron?

Kill 4X with a chevron, but i am not sure what model it is, only has NSN# on it

A good option is the Metrolight reflex sight (Mepro 21), very similar to the trijicon refex or dot sight. But is cheaper. I own both and there is not really a big difference other the Trijicon is more money. Good thing over these sight is they dont need batteries. So no maitenance, it can still for a while and if you need it, its good to go. Eotech great sight, but either people like or dont, theres no middle ground.

There if a pic of the Metolight Reflex sight.

I agree with Killjoys post, I too own the same EOTech 552 sight. I have never had a problem with it. The only down fall is that it is battery operate and it is expensive, like most good sighting systems. good luck with your purchase.

Of course, the Aimpoint Comp M4 is battery operated and has a 8-year battery life with the sight on. That's only two years less than the visible brightness life of tritium. And buying a new battery is a lot cheaper then sending a sight back to the factory for new tritium inserts.

We recently moved from using the Trijicon reflex to the EOTech sight. I do like the EOTech a little better than the Trijicon, but the Trijicon does not need batteries. I would also suggest having a rear peep sight to co-witness with the EOTech in case of battery failure.

With any dot sight or acog sight make sure you have backup iron sights on your weapon, especially for duty use. Besides battery failure there is a posiblity of damage to the unit. Even though these sights are tough and can take a beaten. The best advise is if you are able to sample or use all of the sights before you buy and see which one you like the best.
