WEYMOUTH — A registered sex offender from Weymouth has been indicted on charges he again sexually assaulted a minor starting early last year. The indictment charges Kenneth A. Joslyn, 44, with six counts of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14. He is due in court today for a dangerousness hearing. Joslyn, who lives on Front Street, was convicted in 1996 of rape and abuse of a child, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and indecent assault and battery on a mentally retarded person, according to the state Sex Offender Registry Board. Josyln was arrested by Weymouth police on Jan. 31 after someone reported to police in October that Joslyn had sexually assaulted the victim. Sgt. Rick Fuller said the alleged abuse is thought to have started in February 2007. Joslyn knew the victim. Police executed a search warrant on Jan. 31 and arrested Joslyn outside the Weymouth Food Pantry. Prosecutors requested Joslyn be held on $100,000 bail, but a judge reduced it to $5,000, said David Traub, spokesman for the Norfolk County district attorney’s office. Joslyn failed to make bail, and requested a bail review hearing before a judge. At the hearing, the state again requested Joslyn be held in jail on $100,000 bail, but Judge Janet L. Saunders released him on personal recognizance and had him fitted with a monitoring device. The state followed up the judge’s decision with the indictment, which was handed up by a grand jury on Feb. 27. Joslyn has been held in jail since his arraignment Monday on the indictment charges.
