FRAMINGHAM — Police say man tried to stab ex-wife's new beau A Framingham man threatened his ex-wife and tried to stab her new boyfriend with a screwdriver on Monday, police said. David Saporetti, 41, denied he threatened anyone, and only punched the other man in self-defense, police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said. The victim, whom police did not name, came to the police station at 3 p.m. and said he was attacked by his girlfriend's ex-husband. He said they were on Second Street when Saporetti walked up to them, and the two men began to argue. "He said Saporetti then pulled out a screwdriver and began swinging it at him, trying to stab him," Shastany said. "He said he dodged it several times and turned around to leave and Saporetti punched him in the face." The victim had a cut on the inside of his mouth, and his front teeth were knocked loose from the blow, the lieutenant said. Officers found Saporetti at his job, and he denied the allegation. Saporetti, of 47 Bridges St., was charged with assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime. He pleaded not guilty at his Framingham District Court arraignment yesterday and was released without bail. He is due back in court on April 16 for a pretrial conference.
