Man Had Been Accused Of Accepting Money To Assault Officer
WEARE, N.H. -- Police have dropped charges against a Weare man who had been accused of accepting money to assault a police officer.
Mark Yphantis, 47, was arrested in January on charges of being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit assault.
Monday, Weare Detective Lou Chatel said that after talking to more people involved with the case, police decided to dismiss the charges and close the case. He offered no other details.
Yphantis said he had been falsely accused.
He was arrested after another Weare man, Robert Phelps, told the police he paid Yphantis $700 and that Yphantis said he would run Weare Sgt. James Carney off the road and beat him.
