Don't mess with Irish bartenders. That's what one gunman learned last night in Limerick. Bar staff pounced on a gunman and held him until gardai arrived after he entered a packed pub with a sawn-off shotgun last night. The gunman entered Quilty's pub on the northside of Limerick city shortly after 8.30pm. A large crowd was in the Thomondgate pub at the time, but alert bar staff spotted the gunman and pinned him to the ground as customers took cover. Gardai were alerted and the man who is from the southside of the city was held by staff until officers arrived. It is unknown who the man's intended target was or if they were in the pub at the time. He was being questioned by gardai last night. Medical personnel treated one customer for shock following the incident.
