Last is the cheapest and made in Israel by Marom Dolphin LTD $300+ (depends on where you buy them)
This company is a main official supplier for the IDF (Israel Defense Force)

No:7911 VIP Vest
the only info I can find on these is by doing a Google search. While according to the Manufacturer they are NIJ certified and Guaranteed by
ISO 9002 standards, the Israeli Institute of Standards, and

the Quality Assurance of the IDF.

I am a bit skeptical of these vests though I suppose if it is good enough for the IDF it should be good for Small Town USA Police Dept.

A Level IIIA vest is going to be so bulky, stiff, and uncomfortable that it increases the chances of you not wearing it, which defeats the whole purpose.

A Level II or even IIA is a much better choice for the average street cop.

Thanks Delta I never thought of that... I am looking at some level II vests now they are about $150 cheaper and I think for what I will encounter it will provide adequate protection. I am going to get wait for a few more opinions before purchasing.

I have a new Point Blank Level II, and it's just about as thick as I can tolerate over a double-shift. It's noticeably bulkier and heavier than the Level IIA it replaced.

Generally, you should wear a level vest that will defeat whatever you're carrying yourself, which in most cases will be a Level IIA.

my IIIA vest fits fine. Its a safari-land. I am not a big guy and the vest is not that noticeable when I am wearing it. Just treat the vest like a normal part of your uniform and wear it when your on patrol and you will get used to it.

I agree - if you can afford the IIIA, I would spring for it. I wear a IIIA all the time with no problems - I just always wear the Under Armor with it.

The panels have really become a lot more comfortable in the last ten years...I have a Safariland Zero G.
