Has anyone ever encountered any mongoloids smoking sage? Apparently it's a popular and legal alternative to smokin' a big fat dube. My question is what are the effects if any from smoking this crap?

I've come across it a few times - not sure what the effects (if any) are, usually the reprobate will try to make it seem like that's all they have in the car. "Dude, it's just sage, it's perfectly legal..." Take a good whiff, you'll most likely smell pot in the car.
Based on your observations if you have them (dried green leafy substance in plastic bags, rolling papers, smell of burnt marijuana, etc.) do a good search, usually you will find the real thing somewheres, Jerry's kids will use the sage as a cover hoping you'll either (a) not do a good search and find the real pot or (b) sieze their sage and look like a buffoon in court. If you know your dope (and dopes), there's NO WAY you will confuse sage with pot. If you do, you deserve to look like a buffoon in court.
Also, see if you can make a connection with distributuion of a counterfeit substance: for example, there's a carnival or concert, you find Rudy Rasta lurking arund with a fat wad of cash and a bunch of little bags filled with sage. Even better if the bags have pot leaf logos stamped on them. "Dude, it's just sage, it's perfectly legal..." Yeah, unless you're passing it off as pot you idiot.
