FRAMINGHAM — Police arrested a homeless man on Wednesday afternoon after he struck his longtime girlfriend several times, then held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, they said. Darwin May, 47, was charged with domestic assault and battery, domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and making a domestic threat, police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said. May is homeless, but is originally from Ypsilanti, Mich., Shastany said. Police met with the victim, who has been dating May sporadically for 14 years, and she reported that May intended to stay at her apartment the previous night, but appeared drunk when he arrived, according to Shastany. According to the victim, May punched her several times on the arm, which caused bruising, and slapped her across her face, said Shastany. May then held the "knife against her throat and told her he was going to kill her," said Shastany. The victim had her injuries treated and photographed at a local hospital, he said. Police found May on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. near the commuter rail station. He denied hitting the victim and said she must have been attacked by someone else. When the victim was asked if someone other than May struck her, "she said, 'Absolutely not,"' said Shastany.
