Fall River - Police are investigating an armed robbery and an attempted holdup.
Sgt. Paul Bernier said two boys, ages 14 and 15, were robbed of their cellphones by a gunman, after they exited a school bus in the area of North Main and Brightman streets Feb. 29 about 3:30 p.m.
Bernier said the boys were confronted by an unknown black male, described as about 17 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing 150 pounds.
“He demanded them to empty their pockets,” Bernier related. “He lifted his shirt and revealed a black handgun, tucked in his waistband.”
After getting the cellphones, the robber ordered his victims to continue walking on Brightman Street, Bernier said.
On Sunday, a man reported that two men, armed with knives, tried to rob him about 9:45 p.m. at Brightman and Morton streets.
The victim was not injured in a scuffle with one of the assailants, but was “extremely shaken” and had a knife slash to his jacket, Bernier said. While on the ground, the victim was kicked in the forehead, he added. A broken knife was recovered by police.
Major Crimes Division detectives are investigating both incidents.
