A Marshfield man is accused of raping one girl and plying other preteen girls in town with cash, cigarettes and liquor in a gut-churning bid to get them to perform sex acts, police said.
Geraldo Miranda, 22, was held on $10,000 cash bail yesterday following his arraignment on two counts of child rape and several other sex crimes.
Marshfield police said two weeks ago a concerned parent told police about a rumor that teen and preteen girls were being sexually assaulted by an older man.
Town detectives Kim Jones and Michael Donovan found two girls, ages 12 and 13, who were allegedly victims of Miranda’s attacks, and found several other girls he targeted, police said.
Police said it appears Miranda befriended two of the girls in August or September, then began offering them cash, alcohol and cigarettes in exchange for sexual acts.
Witnesses told investigators that Miranda gave some of the girls booze and cigaretts several times over the months he groomed them and had sexual relations with one of the girls twice, police said.
Cops staked out Miranda’s Webster Street apartment and arrested him there early yesterday morning.
He was arraigned in Plymouth District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape of a child, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, six counts of soliciting sex for a fee, six counts of enticing a minor and five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
