COHASSET —
Two Weymouth men face charges in an alleged shoplifting scheme, police said.
Raymond C. Fuschetti III, 40, of 45 Winter St. and Kenneth J. Peters, 44, of 50 Federal Street were arraigned in Quincy District Court Monday.
Police arrested them Saturday night. They had more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from different stores throughout the South Shore and the Boston area, police said.
Police said they got a tip Saturday night that two men near Tedeschi Plaza on Route 3A were acting suspiciously.
When police arrived, Peters was in a car in the plaza parking lot and Fuschetti came out of a store and went to the car, police said.
Police are accusing Fuschetti and Peters of being involved in a shoplifting scheme in which they would enter a store, make a small purchase, and proceed to steal other items from the store.
Fuschetti was charged with larceny over $250, shoplifting by asportation over $100, and receiving stolen property, police said.
Peters was charged with unlawful possession of prescription narcotics and receiving stolen property, police said.
Fuschetti was released on $500 cash bail and is due back in court on March 31, a court clerk said.
Peters was released on $95 cash bail and is due back in court in May 1, the clerk said.
Cohasset police said they are working with other area police departments and loss prevention representatives from local retail stores in an attempt to return suspected stolen goods to owners.
