Allegedly stole truck; has long record of crimes

WEYMOUTH —
Weymouth police arrested a Dorchester man who is suspected of a Braintree home burglary last month in which a truck was stolen from a garage.
Luis Thistle, 39, was arrested in a car parked in a Winter Street parking lot in Weymouth at about 3:25 p.m. Tuesday after police found his driver’s license had been revoked.
According to Registry of Motor Vehicles records, Thistle’s license has been repeatedly revoked over the years for offenses ranging from driving to endanger to theft and concealment.
Newspaper accounts cite him in several other motor vehicle thefts on the South Shore over the years, including a 2001 arrest for a theft in Quincy and a Milton theft in 1996, after which he managed to escape from a holding facility.
Weymouth police charged Thistle with driving with a revoked license and receiving stolen property.
Police said tools found in the vehicle tied him to a Feb. 15 break-in in Braintree in which a pickup truck that contained expensive power tools was taken.
Braintree police are investigating.
Thistle was arraigned on the charges Wednesday in Quincy District Court.
