Hello,
Are any of the Springfield XD models Mass compliant??

Posted by: mpd61

Not currently that I'm aware of.
Remember though...You can buy one anytime private sale from a private party (Non-Dealer) on an FA-10. As long as the seller is a resident and properly licensed and owner of said gun.

The Onus of the sale of Mass-compliant guns falls on Licensed Dealers.

OK, where can I find out more info on FA-10 transfers??

LEO's can also purchase from interstate arms now

Your only shot is a LE purchase from out of state. They're not "approved" and they were introduced post-98 so there aren't any prebans around the state.

this is "the list" from the ag's office. its the most recent that i can find.

http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/chsb/...er_feb2007.pdf

the xd isnt on it. your only bet is one that made it into the state(whether by an leo or someone who is licensed in another state as well and brough it in etc) and then buying it from a private party. this is questionably legal.

heres where the main issue rears its ugly head. the AG has determined that every gun not on "the list" is unsafe. if you intend to use it for range work only this wont be too much of a problem, but if you carry it and ever need to use it, god help you cause a lawyer cant. you've shot a person with a legally unsafe firearm. screwed doesnt even begin to cover it.(for the record, i wholeheartedly disagree with this line of thinking, but it is accurate to what the ag has said.)

btw, springfield has stated numerous times they have no intention now or int he future to comply with mass regulations.

four seasons in woburn is really good about staying on top of what mass compliant. they maintain a list on their site.

I think I said that already

BTW, at this point in time, it is NOT "questionably" legal. If something not on list does NOT mean it's not mass compliant. My S&W Model 28 isn't on a list and I can sell it legally to anybody. My old Savage 16 gauge doesn't have any serial numbers. Prior to 1968 these particular models were manufactured without any. The gun is LEGAL.

I seriously wish people would stop being armchair lawyers and making
statements about how "illegal" things are that we do nearly every other week.

wanna watch me tear that apart? it will be fun...

what i said: "your only bet is one that made it into the state and then buying it from a private party"

if it was not registered in ma before the 1998 gun control act and 940cmr, or on the approved list, it can not be legally transferred. your m28 was, im guessing, in state prior to 1998. or is on the list/compliant with 940.

the discussion was regarding someone who, for example, has a out of state LTC. goes to that state, buys a gun, brings it home(which i believe is legal) but then transfers it to another party. since that gun wasnt registered in ma prior to 1998, that would be considered illegal.

your savage doesnt have anything to do with anything. the discussion never veered towards unnumbered guns.

see, wasnt that fun?

Neither

It must have something to do with something I would think?

I suppose in some context somewhere, maybe sombody could see the humor, somehow in someway. Then again it might not be funny in anyway since it has nothing to do with nothing!
