The agency that guards Russian President Vladimir Putin has advertised for 21-thousand dollars worth of mice but it's a state secret what they are planning to do with them. The Federal Guard Service, responsible for the security of top Russian officials and visiting dignitaries, posted a tender for 3,200 "white, female, laboratory mice... between sixteen and eighteen grams" on a government web site.Questioned by AFP, a spokesman would not say what the guard service wants with so many mice, but Russian daily Komsomolskaya Pravda speculated Friday that they could be used to test the food of top officials. It conceded, however, that a more likely explanation might be to feed the falcons that are used in the Kremlin to keep crows away from the heart of the Russian government. The guard service said in its tender it was willing to fork out up to 500,000 rubles (20,800 dollars, 13,700 euros) provided the mice are delivered by the end of the year. Bids for the order closed Thursday
