That's not a hitchhiking symbol; the MassCops auto thread checker has approved your post.

Ya okay Chief!

Maybe if you were half the man he was, let alone Mao or Payne, you wouldn't be waiting to graduate from your security job at the labs!

Another dink heard from again.

Easy kids. Back to the point. Lancaster is perpetually plagued with threats of layoffs and other budget cuts. In 2003, a successful 2 1/2 override saved them from laying off all but 2 of the officers. Nice town, great group on the PD. They still work a 5 and 2, I believe (great if you want Tuesday and Wednesday off for the foreseeable future). No Quinn either. I haven't spoken to anyone in a while, but I know they hire on occasion.

Unless you are a resident there DO NOT bother puting in for it as they usually have 6-12 residents on the list and will hire from residents only list. Last officer that was hired was different, as LPD is a consent decree community, they had to hire a minority officer for the one that departed a couple of years ago. The officer they hired was not only a minority but a disabled veteran so he topped the list. Super Wal-Mart was shot down by the down and they are not going to hire the 3-4 officers that they expected to be hired. There are already too many reserves on the PD off the CS list and will not hire any reserves for many years to come. Two retirements might be coming up in two years but they WILL be filled by the permanent intermittent officers as they are waiting for them. Those reserve positions might not get filled as there are more than enough reserves. After that 5 years at least till the next retirement. They have 11 full time officers including Chief, 2 Sgts and A detective, so when they do hire it is usually only one officer every few years or so.It's a great PD, great guys, great equipment, one officer went to Leominster and came back even though it was a pay cut as LPD is a good quality of life community. Pay is comparable to other PDs, no Quinn but there is an educational stipend and ALOT of other things in the contract that boosts pay. Yes in 2003 they were talking about layoffs as they had to rescue the Nashoba Regional School District, some ass stole something like close to $1Mil. Override passed and everyone is safe, even if they were not, they are a CS PD and guys would have had jobs within a few weeks or months.

Where is Lancaster PD?

Posted by: j809

About 40 miles west of Boston off Route 2. Borders Leominster,Clinton,Harvard,Lunenburg,Sterling,Bolt on and Shirley.

Lancaster? a consent decree community how many minorities live there. What they need a spanish speaking officer for there one hispanic mechanic that works at Rusty's Garage.

Posted by: irish937

Atlantic Union College; private Seventh-Day Adventist. The college brings a large minority population to the southern section of town.

A transient (college students) population contributes towards a consent decree?

Posted by: O-302

Lancaster PD is not listed as a consent decree town:

Interesting, maybe they are no longer under the consent decree requirement as it met its requirments under the decree. It was a big to do when last officer was hired as they could not hire anyone but a minority officer to replace the one that left. Looks like Boston is no longer a consent decree community.

O-302, what do you mean by Shirley you can't be serious????

Posted by: irish937

Delta,

I would say that the in session population residing in on campus housing does not count. However, the town has a significant population who have relocated as a result of the school and reside in off campus private housing. I would think that would contibute. Judging by the other posts, it appears that the consent decree has been lifted.

Great line from Airplane!

"Surely you can't be serious!"

"I am serious...and don't call me Shirley"

Priceless!!

Totally off subject about Lancaster: but another "airplane" quote that I like:

"Male announcer
: The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in a red zone.
Female announcer: The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in a red zone.
Male announcer: The red zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in a white zone.
Female announcer: No, the white zone is for loading. Now, there is no stopping in a RED zone.
Male announcer: The red zone has always been for loading.
Female announcer: Don't you tell me which zone is for loading, and which zone is for unloading.
Male announcer: Look Betty, don't start up with your white zone shit again. There's just no stopping in a white zone.
Female announcer: Oh really, Vernon? Why pretend, we both know perfectly well what this is about. You want me to have an abortion.
Male announcer: It's really the only sensible thing to do, if its done safely. Therapeutically there's no danger involved."
