Nationwide announcement you have to sign up and test. It is a long one, 4 hours and 50 mins. They are getting law enforcement coverage in July of this year.

Do they have offices at Logan or Warwick? If so, I have never seen them only TSA

Posted by: KJack815

Customs absolutely has officers at Logan. Terminal E 'international'. The airport is primarily patrolled by MSP with TSA officers at checkpoints, but if you go over to Terminal E you will see customs officers.

Anyone know how long they will be hiring for? I graduate next May from school.

Unless you took the test last march you won't be getting on any time soon

They had a test last november as well....

I went as far as to deal with the BI earlier this year, what a pain in the balls. She was a retired CBP Officer now doing the BI's. She came up from Texas to a frigid New England winter. Apparently she made my military Company Commander come to her because she had slipped on the ice three times in one day and wasn't going anywhere else. He was psyched about that one, but, figured I was worth it. After all that I ended up making a move to a position I think will challenge me more and bailed on the whole deal, I tested last March. They now get law enforcement pay, good luck.

Congratulations, it sounds like you must have had a better experience than me. Was Marsha your BI this past winter? Anyways, I was at FLETC last year during the end of July and August. IT'S AFRICA HOT!!!!!!! I saw CBP in action during some of their training, you'll definitely enjoy it. Get up to Savannah on the weekends!

Thanks! I did not had a BI contact me. I was kind of surprised, my background was pending in the security office for about 3 weeks, then it updated to completed and I got the call this past Wednesday (about a week later).

I hear it is a really hot down there, thankfully the majority of my time will be there in the fall. I leave July 28 and I am there until November 10th.

Definitely head up to Savannah/Tybee Island. Jacksonville is an equal drive south but nothing special, IMO.

Barbady,

I am considering driving down, so I can out and about once in a while. I am actually considering stopping in NC for the night. Any advice on places to stay or stay away from off of 95?

Any place along 95 should be Ok. Places that I know of that have restaurants/hotels right off the interstate: North near the VA border I would say Roanoke Rapids/Weldon area. Further south, Fayetteville, though some say is sketchy. But, most places through out the whole stretch of 95 are safe and convenient.

RCS, I know you're driving down but bring a bicycle if you have one. Alot of students there get from class to class that way since parking can be scarse at times there. FLETC is a little overcrowded with all the different agencies there.

Mass. your duty station?

Posted by: RCS

Barbady, and Sarge.... Thank you both for the info/tips! I hear that a bike is a good way to get around the campus. I plan on using one, it will probably help knock off some minutes on my run time.

Emerlad, My duty location is MA. Are you a CBPO? Any advice for me?

Posted by: emerlad

nope.

Bugspray, lot of it

Stay away from anything with these 2 words - carpet and or red. (not necessarily in that order..... Why ANYONE would name an establishment that is beyond me. (Hey let's go to halibut heathers...)

Two more words you will grow to love "rubber chicken". Because there is ridiculous amount of chicken at the buffet. But it has this rubbery feel and taste to it. It's always wet and seems to be impervious to going bad.
Why the hell is it like that, must be some type of nuclear experimentation.
come to think of it, I never did see any lizards down there.

You ask me it's Disney Land for Law Enforcement officers.
Professional, organized, With the right amount of discipline and fun.
They treat you like the mature adult I am sure you are.

Can't wait to go back...
