A New Jersey man who tried to rally a group of partygoers to confront police officers who were breaking up their gathering Sunday skipped out on his Framingham District Court arraignment yesterday.
Terrence Glover, 26, was arrested at 1:09 a.m. Sunday at a loud party at 14 Greenview St., but did not show for his arraignment yesterday. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police showed up after several people called to complain about the party. Officers told the woman who rented the apartment that there were several complaints and the party had to end, police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said.
The officers stayed to make sure everyone left, but no one did.
"After a few minutes, no one exited and someone tried to shut the door on the officers," said Shastany. "Officer (William) Vargas put his foot in the door. Someone else again tried to shut the door on the officers."
The officers then demanded the party stop.
"One of the partygoers explained they would turn the music down and lower their voices and they would continue the party," Shastany said.
The officers said no, went inside and began ordering people to leave.
There, they were confronted by Glover, who claimed his and everyone else's civil rights were being violated.
"He continued yelling," Shastany said.
Because he would not calm down, the officers handcuffed Glover. Several people tried to intervene, but they were warned they would be arrested and they backed off, the lieutenant said.
Glover was charged with disturbing the peace.
