Seven-year-old boy was hurt by flying cement from July incident

By Muareen Boyle The Enterprise Posted Feb 25, 2008 @ 12:31 PM BROCKTON — The man accused of opening fire on Winthrop Street last summer, critically wounding someone on a porch and injuring a 7-year-old boy, was caught this morning in Stoughton. Olivio Leverone, 19, of Brockton, was arrested by Brockton Detective Ernest Bell and State Trooper Robert Fries on Sumner Street in Stoughton. Leverone was wanted on a string of gun and attempted murder charges in several, separate cases. One of the cases involved the shooting of an 18-year-old man who was found lying on a porch at 141 Winthrop St. last July. A 7-year-old boy from Norton, who was visiting, was injured at that time when a piece of cement grazed his cheek in the incident. Brockton police Lt. John Crowley, chief of detectives, said the suspect rode up on a bike and opened fire. The gun was later recovered. The suspect was at a girlfriend’s house at 49 Sumner St., Stoughton at the time of his arrest this morning. Crowley said Leverone had been the subject of an intensive investigation by authorities. “We have been looking for him for a while,” Crowley said.
