I will be attending the part time academy next week and we are going to need a holster for our duty firearm..the problem is I have no idea what to get. I am new to hand guns and only slightly more familiar with rifles. so my question is that would be a good first gun for someone like me. i was looking at both the glock 17 and 22 as well as the baretta 92. any help would be much appreciated.

Take your pick. I prefer the Safariland 070.

Glock 22 all the way !!!!!!!

Glock 23 is what we use. It took me a while to get use to the Triger pull on the Glock but after a-while I got the hang of it.

so you have your choice of a Glock 17 ,22 or Beretta ?

Plymouth County just switched to the Blackhawk Level 3 Serpa for the Glock 22/23 ( plastic )

allot of guys like it , but i liked the 070 Safariland better ( leather )

I second the safariland 070. and ditto on the glock 22.

Is that what you have to choose from, or can you use what ever you want. What are the full timers issued. May want to think about getting one of those...

Sound advice.

So what you guys are saying is...

As a part-timer, you can carry anything you want?

Of your choices I would go with the glock 23

Can't go wrong with a SIG. 226 or 229 model.

LOL...I was wondering when someone was going to make that connection.

1. Read your Department's policies on what weapons and holsters are allowed.

2. If no such policy....go exactly with what the full-time officers carry.
