DoD Police shooting incidents

Anybody see the recent shootings involving DoD cops in the northeast?

At NAS Brunswick Maine, there was a sailor who shot himself in presence of responding DoD and MAA personnel on 31 January.
Then on February 9th, a Ssgt at Fort Drum New York, was shot by a Civilian Officer (DoD) responding to a 911 hang-up in which the Ssgt dis-armed and held the first pair of responders (one MP and one DoD) at gunpoint. Despite verbal attempts to de-escalate the subject, he turned and fired two shots and was then struck twice by return fire.

Just goes to show that police in any environment are always facing potential serious risk. On campuses, military installations, medical centers, the woods, lakes and trails, policing is as dangerous as on a State highway or town road.

i cant agree with you more on that topic...the minute you put your legs up on the desk and fold your arms is when something will pop off

Which is another reason why if there is POLICE on your patch, you need be armed.

Ouch!!

I'm glad you posted these incidents here. There is an air of complacency within the DoD ranks. Kozmo is 100% right. Cops need to be armed regardless of the fact that they are on a campus, base, or somewhere else. You never know. Where we are with DoD our primary job is entry control, but think about it., You are standing on an open gate letting some possible mope just roll up on you. SERIOUS disadvantage. Anyway, I'm so happy to see this thread still thriving, and thriving with good info. I started it years ago with Gils help and had no idea it would last this long. Keep the info coming and be safe. Also keep our brothers and sisters on LP/OP's and ECP's and convoys etc. serving in the AO in your prayers.
