84-Year-Old Driver Hits, Kills 101-Year-Old

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 101-year-old woman was killed when she was
hit by a van while crossing the street, Jacksonville police said.

Dora Krone was trying to cross a busy street with a walker Wednesday
afternoon when she was struck by the van.

Police said Lois Ponsell, 84, was the driver of that car.

Krone was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Police said speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash and charges
are not likely to be filed

A tragedy for sure, but 101 is a pretty good run. Usually it's kids or people in the prime of their lives getting run-down by the Q-Tip crowd.
