78th Next Step.....?

Has any potential candidate heard anything further after the background?

I had my integrity interview in late December and haven't heard anything since then pertaining to a psych. eval, or any further step.

Does anyone also know if you receive notification if you are no longer considered?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanx!

Posted by: jyanis

You will get a letter either way. Usually about a month before the class starts so you can give a notice at work.

Posted by: d8771

What was your score??

Posted by: BIG IRISH

I scored a 96 and I'm completely done with the process. My background, medical eval and psych have all been completed for about 3 weeks. The only thing I'm waiting on is a letter to say I'm hired. From what I'm told no news is good news!! Just keep looking in the mailbox and hope to see you June 27th!! Go 78th!!

Posted by: TJH

I heard that today, Tuesday, the list for the class and standby's should be finalized so maybe notification will be received by the end of the week. I imagine it would be soon, given less then 4 weeks to start.

Posted by: soxfan

Kelgers I was just looking over some old posts and saw that there was something in your background that was called into question. If this problem was not resolved it would definetly explain why you haven't moved forward in the process. Good luck, I hope to see you on day one.

Posted by: Rock

For those in the running....
I just got word that if you are in the mix and have finished all the steps to this point that you should hear something by the end of next week. That or THEY will know by the end of next week and they will let you know when ever they want.

KEEP RUNNING!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: tfive

To those in the running, if you have not gone any further than the background and interview/pt test you are no longer in the running. Those of you who have completed the process and are waiting for confirmation on your acceptance, be patient, if you are already annoyed at the fact that it is last minute you are not going to make it so resign or defer now rather than take someone elses spot. You do realize that you are a very small, and lucky, percentage of people that actually have a chance. 16 to 20 thousand people take the test and less than 600 people even get a chance. You have better odds of getting accepted to Harvard Law. Consider yourselves very very lucky and stop complaining that you have to wait a couple of weeks. It is an opportunity of a life time and is well worth the wait. Concentrate on preparing yourselves, physically and mentally, for the toughest 26 weeks that you will ever experience and get your personal lives in order. Trust me when I say "toughest." I have personally experienced Army basic training, MPOC, and RTT and the RTT was by far the toughest. Good Luck to all. IT IS WORTH IT.

BTW... New number is 260..........

Posted by: mpdcam

260??????

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

Would that 260 maybe represent the number of trainees getting called to start in New Braintree for June 27... or am I waaaaay off base?

Posted by: Tango

Tfive, good advice. It is a bit frustrating not knowing what the next 6 months of our lives entail, but as you said, this stress is nothing compared to what is front of us. As frustrating as it is to see an empty mailbox each morning (except for bills) at least I get to sleep in my own bed for a few more weeks...this all has a purpose, lets hang in there.

Does anyone know if they still plan on having some type of orientation?

Posted by: Rock

Orientation is June 11th.

Posted by: Dane

Pvt. Cowboy,

You're not off base.

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

Didn't think so.

What I find comical, is that they're expecting 110 drop-outs.

Posted by: Rock

Comical!?! I think its a scary challenge. That's a really large number of "qualified canditates". That said I hope I'm not one of those 110 and I'm still looking forward to the toughest 6 months of my life.

You should not be "hoping you are not one of the 110." That choice is up to you.

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

Rock, as long as you have the "drive" to get it done... you won't have any problems. It probably really sucks running and running and getting PT'd to death, but how dissappointed in yourself would you be if you happened to be one of the lucky 260 who not only scored 96 or better, had a flawless background that you maintained all you life just so you could get a job like this, and was in tip-top shape only to succumb to the pressure and quit.

I would personally like to give a, "What did the five fingers say to the face? ....SLAP! I'm Rick James bitch..." to everyone who quit the academy and didn't realize they couldn't hack it ahead of time.

Actually no, I'd rather say thanks for quitting, thus changing the standards and requiring 260 trainees per academy start, hoping that they run out of 96ers and us 95's get called.

Posted by: nirtallica

Yes they will have 260 bodies ready to go. Out of those probably only 180 - 200 will be there on day ONE. After that, they will replace bodies as needed the following week. It all depends on your oral board score if you are in that first gruop. In my RTT, over a two week period, about 80 pepople resigned. The final number that was probably called was about 220. They SPA can't possibly accomidate 260 bodies at a whack. And the word is that this RTT is going to be one of the toughest yet. Good luck to those that get the call. Remember, it is all worth it in the end.

Posted by: 5-hole

if I remember correctly, we were told at our oral interviews 225 for day one..

Posted by: Mikey682

Good luck, hopefully you guys will make it through...I'm sure its a great job

Posted by: nirtallica

You are dreaming if you honestly think 194 will graduate.

Posted by: Rock

You're still talking about 75 people. I wonder out of that 240 how many are concidered "stand-by".
Anyone know the total count that dropped out of the 77th?

Posted by: reno911_2004

77, if not exact, almost exact.

Posted by: Mikey682

thats alot of people...what if all 200+ finish?

Posted by: reno911_2004

The estimation of around 75 over expected to drop is based on past experience. The last two classes have lost nearly the same amount. But in my opinion, if 200 graduated, then they graduated. I doubt, and I'm no expert, that the SPA would eliminate those ranking towards the bottom, simply because the expected failure rate was off.

Posted by: Mikey682

that many dropputs expected? thats alot of wasted food and energy!

Posted by: SinePari

Quit trying to figure out how many this and that! All you need to worry about is after 25 weeks of SUCK you're standing on the parade deck at graduation.

Get off the 'puter and go running

Posted by: thumper2168

Sorry have not been on the board.. Yes, 260 on day one. Either way, running, pushups and sit-ups... I saw a kid at the gym the other day and he was killing the weight stack and I heard one of the other guys ask him how many miles he was up to and he said I just started running again in mid May... Run, psuh ups and sit ups... It's all a head game dont give up it's worth every single bead of sweat and it has a purpose...

It's called 3:12 AM on a car stop 5 degrees out and the bad guy is trying to kill you with his bare hands, or with a tire iron and your nearest backup is 15, 20, 35 minutes away... It's the discipline and Intestinal fortittude from the academy that will make you go home to your wife and kid that you learned at the academy.... Good luck....

Posted by: Rock

Dont' get all caught up in the numbers........That being said, the orientation letter states approximately 240 candidates will be appointed. Also their goal is to graduate 165. Now that tells me that that's their goal so anything above that is good for them. They need the numbers from what I know.

By the way, "killing that weight stack" should feel great when he's pukeing at mile 6!

Posted by: 2-Delta

Three from work leaving to start on the 27th, good luck. I better not hear from you assholes till December.

Posted by: soxfan

Does anybody have any idea of the approximate number of canidates on the standby list?

Posted by: Rock

I believe it's 200 for day one and 40 on standby for July 5th. Someone can correct me if that's wrong (which I'm sure they'll do).

Posted by: mpdcam

Heard today from HRD that more appointment notices for day one are going out this week from the stand-by list. Looks like some people are deferring to the 79th. Good news for us guys on the standy-by list...

Posted by: BIG IRISH

Just a quick question. Did anyone else going on Monday order their clothing from the SP store? I'm just double checking my to-do list one more time. Thanks and see you Monday!

Posted by: TJH

BIG IRISH - I believe at the orientation, they said when you receive your letter to report, to order the items from the store. ( My wife took good notes). I had ordered mine about a week ago.

Dogma, I can totally understand your frustration. Now that the clocks ticking and people have their papers in hand, it becomes real. My buddy who originally got a letter saying he was on standby got a phone call from HR for him to report on day one. HR actually called him a few times to get a hold of him to see what his intentions were. Makes me think more people are probably backing out last minute. I'm anticipating the next 6 months to be 10 times harder than Marine Corps boot camp. We'll see soon enough. TJH

Posted by: Tango

FYI- I called to place my order last week and asked about sizing, especially the warm up suits. The guy told me that during the second week, he will be there for us to try things on if needed and make changes to the order.

4 days to go, can you believe it??? Everyone reporting Monday, have a great, relaxing and SAFE weekend

Posted by: fscpd910

Good luck to all attending the 78 RTT.

Posted by: mpdcam

Hey TJH, when did your buddy get the call from HRD?

Tuesday, during the day, twice. They left a message but he worked mids, and was going to call the next day. He didn't have to, they called him Wednesday morning. TJH

Posted by: badogg88

Posted by: Rock

First 3 days should be REAL intresting with a projected heat wave. Monday, Tues. and Wed. could all hit 90! YEAH! Who's dropping first!?!

Posted by: mpdcam

96 here on the standyby list waitin for the call.

Good luck to all starting day 1. Just remember. There is an end.

Posted by: JFSMSP

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU ATTENDING THE 78TH, AS A GRADUATING MEMBER OF THE 77TH I WILL DEFINITELY WELCOME YOU TO THE RANKS. KEEP YOUR HEADS UP AND JUST IMAGINE WORKING IN THE BEST CAREER YOU'LL EVER HAVE, I LOVE IT ALREADY AND ITS ONLY JUST BEGUN....BIG IRISH DON'T LET ME DOWN. P.S. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO PREORDER PT GEAR BUT THE WARM UP PANTS RUN A LITTLE SMALL.

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

I pretty much think everyone here has said good luck in some form or another... so I'll start by saying this... the 78th next step... is to NOT DROP OUT! Don't be one of those suck-asses who takes up a spot and is not committed. I think the fellow members of this board will make it's readers proud... Rock, Big Irish, mpdcam (if you get called within the next two days) I tend to believe that you fellas will make it, if NOT from the fact that your posts show the obvious desire to show up at day 1 with the right equipment and attitude... than for the simple reason that you will be RIDDICULED TO DEATH... from those that read this forum.

Now GOOD LUCK, and make my 95 scorin' sorry-ass jealous that you get to wear the french and electric before I do.

Posted by: Rock

Thanks Pvt. Cowboy, and all others sending us good luck. I'm ready to rock! I won't be posting for the next 6 months so I'll have some catching up to do in late December. For those on standby....I'll see you on July 5th and I'll thank you ahead of time for taking the heat off me! GO 78TH!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Bravo2-7

The appointment list just came through the room today, good luck to all in the 78th.

Posted by: JAG41

A quick question to those going on Monday or have been in a recent RTT...The list says toiletries, do you just stuff those things into you duffle bag? Or would it be better to have them in some type of shaving kit , small bag type of thing? And YES! I do know that the list didnt call for one of those, but was just wondering???

Posted by: JFSMSP

bring a shaving kit, we didn't have trouble with those......

Posted by: nirtallica

Good luck to all those canidates and potential canidates who were chosen for the 78th RTT. This is your moment. Remember, no matter how hard it gets, tough it out. It is all worth it in the end.

Posted by: SGT_GRUNT_USMC

Congrats to all who made the cut into the 78th RTT.I start the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Academy on June 27th, the same day as the 78th RTT.
