Just A note to let people know, that on May 13 2008 Boston College Officer Tom Devlins name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial In Washington DC. If anyone is attending keep Tom and his family in your thoughts. A candlelight vigil will be held on May 13 at 8:00 PM at the memorial in Judiciary square.

I spoke briefly with the BC Chief at the wake. This guy had guts to no end. Though his lung injuries could have allowed him to retire much earlier, he just kept going back to work after bouts with illness all caused by the initial exposure. He just didn't want to quit.

I don't know what I'd do in those circumstances, but, being a total whimp and looking forward to never going to work again, I have a feeling I'd go first chance I had. Not this guy and damn, I admire that tenacity.

Everyone tried to get Tom to take it easy and retire after the injury but he was so committed to return to work he worked out continuously to get back. He fought through the injury for years until it eventually got to him.

Prayers and condolences to Officer Devlin and his family. Sounds like he was a very decent man who cared about people and loved his family. What a tragic loss.

You know if this ever happened where I work some kid wouldn't have gone on to graduate and work with a clean record.

Even if we couldn't find the perp someone still would have paid.
