Fall River - Detectives executed a search warrant at a city man’s home Friday and placed him under arrest after allegedly finding more than 100 grams of cocaine.
Leandro Villoria-Taveras, 46, of 307 Broadway, was charged with trafficking cocaine more than 100 grams, trafficking cocaine in a school zone, possession of marijuana and giving police a false name.
Police said Villoria-Taveras was apprehended following an investigation led by Detective John Cabral.
While conducting surveillance of Villoria-Taveras’ home, detectives saw him arrive and detained him before executing the search warrant.
During the search, detectives located a safe that contained more than 100 bags of cocaine that were packaged for distribution, two other bags weighing nearly 41 grams and some marijuana.
While being detained, police said, Villoria-Taveras identified himself as Nelson Maldonado. Police learned his real identity after taking his fingerprints during booking.
Police said Villoria-Taveras’ home is within 1,000 feet of a childcare facility on Division Street.
In addition to Cabral, detectives James Smith, James Elumba, David Pacheco, William Falandys and Bryan Nadeau assisted with the investigation. Detective Lt. James Keighley and Detective Sgt. Roger Lafleur supervised.
