Fall River - A 16-year-old boy is facing an array of gun and drug charges after allegedly being found with a stolen gun.
Police said officers Robert Rondeau and John Ruggiero arrested the 16-year-old city resident at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday after responding to a call in the Maple Gardens housing development on another matter.
As the two officers were leaving the initial call, they saw the boy act evasive upon seeing them and then attempt to hide between two parked cars.
Police said the two officers were unfamiliar with the teenager and began a conversation with him. While talking, the teenager gestured to his pockets.
Police said he then began make gestures and statements that prompted them to grab the teenager and search him. They found a handgun in his left front pocket.
After the teenager was arrested, police searched him further and allegedly found about 10 grams of marijuana.
A further inspection of the loaded .22 caliber handgun, revealed the pistol had been reported stolen out of Texas.
The 16-year-old is being charged with possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a Class D with intent to distribute, possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute in a school zone and receiving stolen property over $250.
