Two weeks ago? Give them at least 4 before you expect anything. No one give anyone indication of what is happening in two weeks. If you haven't heard anything by the end of March, THEN you can start to ask around.

Don't forget, first they have the closing date (which seems moot in this case) then they have to sift through all the applications, then they have to work out who is going to be on the interview board and when they can all sit together to do said interviews, then...well, it takes time. Don't sweat it yet.

No Quinn Bill. That's an incentive that's offered to cities and towns. I hear the pay is decent but I couldn't tell you what the actual pay scale is. Good luck on the interview. The Chief's a good guy.

Posted by: HELPMe

I heard the pay is around 18 an hr. Pretty damn good for a campus job. Dont know much about the department though.

Posted by: rg1283

They're armed I do know that

Posted by: copchika911

Great dept to work for. pay scale is about $21.00 walking through the door. They have laptops in the cruisers, RAD, Bike Patrol....a motorcycle. Good relationship with WPD. Pro-active. About a 30 man dept. - 2 Det's, 2 LT's, 6 Sgt's, around 15 patrolman (roughly). They are armed - Glock .23 - No Quinn Bill. They send ofc's to the SSPO. Very up and coming. Great group of people to work with. Wait for the call back - It's well worth it.

That's phenominal. They must have their backs to the wall for an academy start date. I wish you the best of luck!

Posted by: DENALI22

I do have the full time academy under my belt too. wonder if this will make any difference!

Posted by: masscopguy

I would guess that having the FT Academy would be an advantage.

They might have concerns about you jumping ship for a municipality at some point, so you might want to have some good reasons why they should hire you over someone with the SSPO.

Posted by: DENALI22

Has any one heard back from them that had an interview, it been almost 2 months now and nothing?

Posted by: Unit23

Sorry to tell you but since they did that round of interviews they have had an assessment center and an interview with the chief. They are making their decision this week. They are down to 8 people for 2-3 positions.

Posted by: RCPD33

Patience young grasshopper. I worked there as a dispatcher before getting a P.O. position elswhere. I know many of the officers and command staff, keeping in touch with most still personally and they are standup guys. It will be worth the wait!

Posted by: DENALI22

I dont think they liked the fact that i had the full time academy, which i can understand, they wouldnt want someone who would jump ship.

Posted by: Kilvinsky

Jumping ship is sort of expected. I've worked at two colleges and have seen people come and go. I jumped ship at my first job. At times I've regretted it-UMass/Boston was a great place to work and they were fantastic people, some of whom are still there. But I was young and ready for a change and so, overboard I went.

College PD's kind of expect people to leave. They don't encourage it, but it's one of those facts of life, so don't sweat it. That academy still might work for you!

And I've heard good things about Bentley too! Listen to RCPD33, he is wise AND witty!

Posted by: StrongasanAux

I sent one also and I haven't so much as received a response to getting the application.

The check is in the mail Jim!

Posted by: Kilvinsky

I won't cash it. As I see it, when one speaks the truth, one should only get a witness fee. No one swore me in so I haven't earned the fee.

Any late word on Bentley from anyone? Now I'm curious myself what's going on.

Posted by: Unit23

the latest word is that they hired 3.
