Yeah you would think they are hiring astronauts there. They are really cautious on who they hire because if you are hired they want to make sure you understand you are hired to work there but not do any police work they dont want you to arrest anyone. i know a sergeant there who has worked there for almost 20 years and has maybe made 2 arrest in that time.

It sounds like the ideal candidate for the Police Officer postition would be a 60 year old Asian lesbian in a wheelchair or blind who was in the military.

If you read it, it almost sounds like they're setting someone up for a fall. We ENCOURAGE you apply, but realistically, do you honestly think you'll be hired for this job?

I know its a little off topic. But at the end it mentions that it is unlawful for a lie detector to be given as a condition for employment in MA. This might be a stupid question but does that also apply for a city/state polce position.

Thanks

I've applied to this department multiple times.. I have bachelors in CJ, NERPI, First Responder and CPR.... and I never even get a response.. Not even one of those generic sorry letters.. My advice don't waste your time...

Getting hired in MA for any police job is hit or miss. I accumulated a stack of "Thank you for your application, but" letters after I got out of the Army, then had 4 job offers in the span of a month.

If you don't apply for a certain job, then your chances of not being hired for that job are exactly 100%.

I'd take prior military over any CJ degree, all day long....Options: Join the service, keep trying, and applying, but please STOP whining...

You think you're the only one out there looking to get on the job and getting frustrated with the results....?

Just keep trying....Like the rest of us...

Hit every little place you can, search websites, etc. The one place will be your job. Even the smallest place. Might not be the perfect dream job. Maybe in "a nice place to start out and a nice place to finish up" type place. Be happy you have a job at all no matter what it is right now.

They are in the process of becoming armed. They should be armed by the summer time. I think the pay is around $17.00 to start.

It was 17 an hr about 3 years ago when I applied there probably more now, I actually got an interview with their det sgt and I didnt have many qualifications at the time. Its very competitive. They have good equipment, they get their uniforms dry cleaned and have a laundry service. Plenty of details. The only problem is that your always under scrutiny from the administration.

Sadly, that's true just about everywhere. It's not just the ones who screw up all the time that feel the pressure, it's often EVERYONE who feels like some big brother/sister is always scrutinizing every single move and nitpicking. You can't let it constantly weigh on your mind or you'll go postal.

Who's whining ? It's a discussion> Trust me I don't need a lecture on what to do... I was just telling other people with similar qualifications the type of response I got back from the University.. Like asked about in the post..

Posted by: cheezsta

I was just asking if anyone heard anything because I got my intial interview after 2 months of applying. Then I got a board interview about a month after that. I then received a call 2 days later that I did great on my board and that they would contact me for a physical and its now been a month and a half. Still havent received a cal.
