FRAMINGHAM - Two men who police say may have been selling cocaine in Framingham were arrested after being spooked by a Framingham man.
Police arrested a Waltham man and a Dorchester man based on charges stemming from suspected drug trafficking late Friday night.
Charles Doutre, 27, of 87 Lakeshore Terrace, Waltham, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, and assault.
After Doutre was arrested 11:48 p.m., police said they confiscated his cell phone and $751 in cash.
Kevin Carvalho, 22, of 70 Topliff St., Dorchester, was also arrested on charges of drug trafficking, cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute.
Police confiscated $122 in cash and a cell phone from Carvalho after he was arrest at 11:21 p.m.
Between the two men, Lt. Paul Shastany said police also confiscated 80 grams of cocaine.
The cocaine could have a street value of up to $8,000.
Shastany said police were able to apprehend the two men because Doutre assaulted an innocent 35-year-old man, who Shastany said Doutre mistook for a narcotics police officer.
"Doutre was being followed by whom he thought were police," said Shastany. "He confronted this innocent party, who then reported the incident to police."
The two arrests were made after the man's report and investigations led police to Carvalho and Doutre on Marble Street in the Beaver Park area of Framingham.
Shastany said the case is under investigation.
