I'm new to the Mass Process.... I'm taking the written test for UMass Dartmouth in Feb. providing I pass the written what are the steps for the PT? Do I schedule the PAT test on my own? If so how soon should I schedule it? Is there any other PT tests I need to do besides the PAT test listed on the civil service exam web page prior to going to an academy? Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure exactly what the changes were regarding the PAT(as it relates to the CS hiring process) test but the obvious answer would be to check out the mass.gov site under civil service. However, since it looks like this is not something adinistered by civil service your best bet would be to call the sponsering agancy. Good luck.

UMass Amherst PAT test consisted of a 1.5 mile run, push ups, sit-ups at the State Police academy.....I wouldn't be suprised if UMass Dart. did the same thing...

WOW, UMASS's PAT test is actually a test of your physical ability, compaired to the Civil Service PAT test that is a joke. Good for UMASS!

Who are you kidding Bull? You couldn't get over the wall even with the new steps on it. Crash through it..yes. Over it....no!!! No detail today?

We can't all be gazelle's like you, NT!

Hey I passed the PAT..... Enough said.... Besides that is why I liked working with Nighttrain. He would chase and catch the perp, then I would drive up and thump him. LOL

Posted by: Bull614

No NightTrain, no detail today...For your information I know that I can get over that stupid wall, with or without the steps..

It wasn't so pretty when I had to take it again to transfer. I looked a lot like a monkey f@#$&*! a football. It was always comforting to know you were bringing up the rear Ed. That didn't sound so good.

lol thanks for the info guys.... i don't really want to contact UMASS yet because I don't want to be that guy who keeps asking questions and hasen't even passed the written yet.....

If they were going to do a cooper standard test I thought it would b4 the written test to weed people out like they do here in RI thats why I had all the questions about scheduling the PAT on my own or if the agency did it etc.

UMass Amherst ---- Written, probably 200 guys showed up.....Everyone who passed was invited to the PAT...from there they are weeded out....

Anyone who recently took pat test know if the obstacle course is 2:10 sec, i looked at HR website it said 1:30 sec. i think that might be old though.

thanks in advance.

Don't hesitate to contact them. Very willing to answer many questions. You just have to get the right person. Contact department administration directly. Not University administration. You'll get more answers.

Considering the thread was about the PAT for UMass Dartmouth P.D.....

After the test at Datmouth they call in a group for interviews if you get through that you go for physical and they schedule the PAT I think in Hudson with all the other LEO's. Lastly a second interview with the Chief. Good Luck

If thats the case, then it will be easier than the UMass Amherst process, though I can't understand why its not universal.....

Excatly why I turned down the job in Dartmouth because I thought they started at the same pay scale as Amherst but they starting pay was like 14.50 an hour.

right, my mistake.

Answer to a previous post. The time on the PAT is 2 minutes and 10 seconds or 130 seconds. The 2.10 and 1.30 postings for time time can be confusing.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
I had not been able to find any information about the umass hiring process so i'm glad i'm more informed
Fingers are crossed I really hope i get this one i'm sick of my job and want to get on like yesterday!

i was with nighttrain, he did look like a monkey banging a football....and the wall almost won....

If I remember correctly you and your partner were running off in a panic to get more $$$ because someone couldn't cut the mustard and needed a second shot. You were not there to see me fly through that bad boy like greased lightining. All those young bucks waiting thier turn couldn't believe it was possible for a human being to move like that. Just wait until you see Maclean run if you need someone to rag on....it's a treat.

Nighttrain I must agree Mac reminds me of a Bobblehead when he runs. Short little body with a huge head. Funny stuff.
