You'll probably have to sign a 6-year commitment in order to be guaranteed that MOS.

The only thing more dangerous than a PFC with a pay check is a Lance Corporal with a BADGE!!!!!!!! Here is another nifty trick for you: GO SEE A RECRUITER!

Are you talking MP or the Civilian Police Officers that the Marines are starting to hire around the US?

Unless the Marine Corps started hiring civilian DOD Police a REAL short time ago, all Law Enforcement on Marine Corps instillations is conducted by Marine Corps Military Police (MOS 5811) and Naval Criminal Investigations Service (Series 1811).

as of reciently, The Marines are now going with a civilian police force for garrison duty. MP are now going to an all combat role AKA Field MP's

Back when I was an active duty MP, we did regular police patrol dutie as well as the old "Stand the gate"

Overall, it was a fun and good job. Made a lot of connections and had some kick ass training as well as the chance to cross train with other LE agencies.

As pointed out above by USMCMP5811 there are many recent postings on USAJOBS for GS-0083 Civilian Police Officers at most of the larger USMC bases from coast to coast. This just started last quarter. Could be pretty interesting development for the convoluted "DOD" police structure that exists with the other services.
