What questions do they ask you at the interview ? Also how long is the interview ? I want to prepare myself because I am horrible with interviews . If anyone could help I would appreciate it thanks .

I really don't think that anyone will tell you the exact questions that will be asked. That's not the way to go about things. Just be tuthful, and stick to those answers. Also, make sure you can justify your answers.

I definitely agree with CTrain. We can't give you the exact answers (nor, would I personally) because they change them up regularly. Answer confidently and be able to back up anything you say with reasons, and I wouldn't make them drag it out of you... ie. I'd do (X, Y, and Z) because (reason 1, 2, and 3). Don't overthink, but be thorough. Any questions, I just graduated with the 302 academy so the interview's still pretty fresh in my head.

Hope this helps a little,
Nytro

I didn't mean the exact questions . I meant what TYPE of questions .... Such as scenerio questions etc . Also how long was the interview ? If you remember please let me know .Thanks

You'll be sitting with a group of people much longer than you'll be in the actual interview. I'd say it was probably about 5-7 minutes long. Panel of 3 people. Usually a Sgt., Lt., and possibly a Dir. of Security, Superintendant, or some other "higher up". General background questions, personal qualifications, why do you think you'll succeed, why do you want to do it, etc. and a few scenarios as far as I recall.

It's hard to predict what anyone would ask in an interview (for any type of job)... I completely agree with being truthful with your answers. Just remember, they already know a great deal about your background so they will figure it out if you are deceptive.

Don't sweat the questions. I gave rubbish answers. At the end of my interview they said.

Well thats are some ridiculous answers and you look like a bag of donuts. I thought for sure I wasn't gunna get hired.

Sure enough I did. The DOC will hire anyone don't be fooled. They need to address their staffing issue and they will definitely stick you in MCI Cedar Junction. Be prepared because that's where I was assigned

I just had my interview last month. Nytro is right on the money with this. Be confident and comfortable with any information you've provided to the State (ie jobs you've held, etc..), and be able to use your experiences, work or life, to back the answers you give. Good luck!

And congrats Nytro on your graduation! I've finished everything as of this past Saturday, and I'm hoping for that letter in the mail...

I cannot speak on a Corrections interview, but ANY interview, you will be asked to explain your resume, job by job, schooling, military if applicable. Do not just go in there unprepared, PREPARE for what you think some situations might come up, in corrections perhaps a co-worker taking bribes from a prisoner, what would you do? they will ask you how you prepared and it may help in the end. Although as Nytro said it is DOC, so have fun
