ATTLEBORO - A teenager apparently incensed that his ex-girlfriend was with another boy faces accusations he threatened the boy with a gun at Attleboro High School over the weekend.
The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. Friday outside the superintendent's office while the boys' basketball game between Attleboro High School and Bishop Feehan High School was being played.
The alleged victim and the girl, both 16, were waiting for a ride when they were approached by Patrick Alan Minkin, 17, of 264 Providence St. in Rehoboth, police said.
Minkin allegedly raised his sweatshirt to show what the two teens believed to be a handgun, and told the 16-year-old boy to stay away from the girl or he would "blast" him, police were told.
Two other students, a boy and another girl, intervened before Minkin allegedly ran out of the school.
The incident was unrelated to the game. Minkin is a student at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, according to court records.
Police went to the suspect's home, but no weapon was recovered.
The incident was investigated by Officer Robert Hale and Sgt. Jeffrey Pierce.
Minkin pleaded innocent Monday in Attleboro District Court to charges of assault by means of a dangerous weapon and uttering threats. He was expected to post $2,500 cash bail and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victims. He is due back in court Feb. 20.
