• WHAT RECESSION?: They say money is tight, but 2007 was a very good year for a number of politicians in the Worcester area moneywise; it looks like the dollars roll in when you've got some clout. Take Lt. Gov. Tim Murray: In 2007, he raised $625,567.84, spending $316,773.42. Of course, that doesn't measure up to 2006, when he raised more than $1.9 million in an election year. Murray's numbers dwarf even the usual champion, Guy Glodis, who reports that he brought in $244,599.50 in donations in 2007. He's consistent: That number is almost identical to what he reported in 2006. State Sen. Ed Augustus reported $65,335 in contributions; his colleague Harriette Chandler listed $63,493.75. John Binienda was the standout among local state reps, bringing in $83,995. Bob Spellane also had a good showing with $66,678.25 in contributions; Shrewsbury Rep. Karyn Polito raised $63,047.28.

A county sheriff receiving almost a 1/2 million dollars in donations in only two years?? Really sounds like he's taking politics out of the Sheriff's Office!

I'm willing to bet that Glodis runs for gov. one day....I think he is THAT ambitious...
