Police say Hamilton teen followed by male in truck

HAMILTON - A teenage girl walking home was followed by a man in a car in an incident that echoed several similar cases in Ipswich, Hamilton police said yesterday.
The 17-year-old girl told police she was walking near Bridge Street and Miles River Road when the man drove up around 11:30 a.m. Thursday and asked for directions. According to a Hamilton Police Department statement, "the male appeared to be following her and at one point made a grossly inappropriate comment to her. The suspect fled after the female took out her cell phone and began to call for help from her brother."
Hamilton and Ipswich police are working together because of similarities between incidents. Detectives from both departments did not return phone calls yesterday seeking more information.
The girl described the driver as a white man, about 30 years old, with short, curly brown hair and brown eyes. He had a thin scruffy beard with no mustache and appeared to be heavyset. He was in an older but clean-looking "bluish-purple" four-door sedan with a spoiler on the back.
Anyone with information about the incident or suspect is asked to call Hamilton Police Detective Ken Nagy at 978-468-1212.
