FRAMINGHAM - An off-duty Natick Police officer is being credited with stopping an assault Tuesday evening.

Sgt. Mark St. Hilaire was at the AMC Theaters in Framingham when he saw Zachary Laub, 17, of Weston, trying to drag his ex-girlfriend out of a line for tickets against her will, Framingham Police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said.

"It's reassuring to know that police officers will step up and help people even when they're off duty," the lieutenant said.

The victim, whom police did not name, was standing in line at 7:05 p.m. when Laub came in and grabbed the girl's arm and started dragging her to the exit.

The girl told police she was unhurt but scared. She tried to pull away from Laub, but couldn't, Shastany said.

"Laub tried to shove the officer and he ran out," Shastany said.

The girl identified Laub as her assailant. She said they went to Weston High School together, but broke up in August.

At 8:45 p.m., Laub went to the station with his parents, and he was arrested.

"He claims he actually head butted (St. Hilaire)," said Shastany. "He said he gets very angry."
Laub, of 10 Dickson Lane, was charged with assault and battery and simple assault.

He pleaded not guilty in Framingham District Court yesterday, and was released without bail.

St. Hilaire could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Hey dip shit, if you took the time to read the article you would have noticed that the officer was off duty, hence he was NOT getting paid. I bet your one of those "I pay your salary" types...

But it's still cool that he did something about it. You didn't hear about anyone else in line doing anything about it.

You deserve to have a head shot made on youself after a comment like that. It might help put things in perspective for you. With your reading comprehension and grammar skills, my guess is you failed your standardized tests. Well don't take it out on a police officer that did a great job stepping up when he wasn't on the town's dime. He has more balls than you for doing what he did. When the homies make a head shot on you, he'd still respond and try to save your ass.

You go Gil! What as ass, headshot is.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to tell you, I am sick of those coming on the board that have no experience as PO's and act as if they know what it is we do. Than, they have the gonads to give their 'perspective' on things, as if they have a clue.
Grrrrr!

Some even pretend to be PO's or hold other positions, even pose as different genders to skulk around on here! Shocking, huh?
