We don't have to ask for permission but if you go out of town the Sgt likes a heads up.

Day shift asks permission to leave sector and if it's a busy night, evening shift does too. Those of us on 11-7 have most of the seniority plus there's no traffic, so we don't want to give the sgt. that much power. We just meet up. Who the supervisor is, is also a factor. Some need to have that control, others have faith in the troops that they won't make meets miles out of sector.

Negative. A neighboring agency now requires that their officers ask permission to meet with another officer; even if it's something like handing over a Taser or swapping cars. Sounds like the bosses just like to micromanage.

Don't need permission out here, unless you're going outside your division, which would be like you guys going to another town. As long as you're in your own division, no permssion needed.

If you're meeting up with an officer in the areas around you...no problem meeting up in neutral ground (area you both cover)...We can't leave town (on days/eves)...unless we are responding to another dept for some reason (I tend to get called to other PD's for female searches)...

On days/eves we literally do have to ask permission to go to the bathroom...but that's only if we need to go inside to use the potty...if we go to the bathroom out on the road, no need to ask...but we must say that we are "on portable"....I miss mids....

We are supposed to ask the OIC but seeing how we are a small town and usually only one car on I guess that makes me the OIC. Only denied myself once.
