Does anyone have a fanny pack holster, that they run with? I'm looking into a few and was wondering if anyone had any positive/negative experiences with a particular one.

Thx.

I'll be honest with you... when ever I see a fanny pack, the first thing that comes to my mind is a concealed weapon.

Posted by: kttref

Same here..but I don't trust most of the scum bags that are in my area..so I want to make sure I run with my gun.

This guy runs with his gun too.

I think MACOP used to wear a fanny pack when he worked on the Cape. Oh, wait, that wasn't for his weapon though.

Fanny packs are teh ghey.

IWB.

Posted by: kttref

What do you suggest? Just running with a gun in my hand? haha i need to be a bit more sneaky then that!!!

Posted by: Mongo

I wore one was and got hit on by some dude.

Posted by: JoninNH

Hey I run with my "gun" in my hand all the time. Boy oh boy do the ladies love that.

Posted by: kttref

I'm never gonna get a serious answer am I? haha

Kate - get a sweatshirt with zippered pockets and carry a S&W 340 in a pocket holster.
Nobody survives 1 in the chest, 1 in the squash from a .357, nobody.
For size \ conceal-ability vs. stopping power, accuracy and reliability, nothing beats a .357 IMHO.

Maybe if I put it in bold:

About ten years ago I worked in Southern California and our duty weapon was huge (beretta 96D). A fanny pack was an option and I bought one. I wore it occassionally for about a year until I figured I would have to stop or come out to my parents. I tried running with it and it was pretty uncomfortable. I think putting a J frame in a camelback would be better.

I havent seen one in awhile but I used to have a holster made out same stuff that sports wraps are. Its sort of a one shot deal, concealment only because theres no "reholstering" as it colapses as soon as you pull the gun. ON the plus side, it held the gun secure and there wasnt any bounce as you ran and it was worn under an oversized t shirt or sweatshirt. It was also machine washable and cheap (25 bucks). secured with velcro. Hope it helps, Ill try to find it and get you a manufacture.
Fanny pacs, "banana republic vest" just scream gun
Running with and IWB I think would seriously chaffe and be uncomfortable.

I carry my S&W bodyguard in a backpack when I run.

Fanny packs are GAY looking, that is what everyone is trying to tell you. If you already have a fanny pack, I have/would placed it diagonally across your back and it makes it somewhat easy to use. You can go to about any police magazine and they will have a very small backpack that you can carry water gun, cuffs, ID and what not that looks very nice.

Posted by: justanotherparatrooper

dont matter if its gay lookin in this case cause SHE is a SHE

Posted by: kttref

Wow Chipper...great post. Glad you could join the discussion.

My biggest reason for wanting a fanny pack, is I'm gonna start running more (now that I'm all better from my surgery)...and I would like to do a 1/2 marathon within the next year, and a marathon the year after...so I'm gonna need something that can hold my water too.

Has anyone actually tried running w/ a weapon in one of the regular running fanny packs? Or does anyone know of running fanny packs (that can hold water), that have a holster in it...?

I don't even care how gay it looks...when I'm protecting myself and hydrating myself...fashion is the least of my concerns. Dummies.

Posted by: justanotherparatrooper

Kate, I have run with a fanny pack....it sucks! The weight of you pistol ( mine was a safariland) bounces all over and generally threw off my stride. Get a good camel back with pockets.

(any ideas for the 1/2 marathon??....great for you!! woo hoo!)

Camelbak Goblin Concealed Carry Lumbar Pack, Blue, 28 oz/0.8L

Posted by: kttref

At the rate I'm going, I may not be ready for May...Besides, I'm on vacation then and doing homework (it's sick that I plan my vacations around school!!!)...I'll probably end up doing one down here in CT...there are a bunch of 1/2's in Sept/October. My sister was supposed to run one last year but pulled a hammy a few days prior, so she was out...we'll probably do it together.

Thanks for the comments...we shall see how it goes, I guess I'll start looking into backpacks. That Camelbak goblin looks not too bad, actually just what I was looking for. Thanks

How about running without the gun!!!

Posted by: kttref

Negative. Not with the shady ass people around here...I don't trust any of the people in my area. I had been running with a knife, but I want something with a bit more of a "bang"....

Posted by: JoninNH

I ran with my .38 in an ankle once, and only once. Even with my sock pulled up over the holster it will wiggle too much!

I bet that was annoying as hell too.

I like that camelback goblin, think I'll check that out a lil more.
